Why You Should Know What Your District Attorney Is Up To — and Join Us for a Neighborhood Forum!

At the Denver Justice Project, we believe that real justice begins with an informed and empowered community. That’s why we host educational forums and town halls like this one—because understanding who holds power in the criminal legal system is essential to transforming it.

One of the most powerful—and often overlooked—elected officials is the District Attorney. DAs decide who gets charged with a crime, whether police officers are held accountable for misconduct, and what justice looks like in practice. Their decisions shape the future of law enforcement, incarceration, and public safety in our city.

But here’s the truth: they work for us. And it’s our responsibility to make sure they hear our voices.

Join the Denver Justice Project and the Denver Task Force for Reimagining Safety for a Know Your DA: Community Town Hall where we’ll dive deep into the role of the District Attorney and what’s happened since DA John Walsh took office in January.
