Community Forum Brings Colorado Attorney General Candidates Directly to Denver Residents

As Colorado prepares for the June 30 Democratic Primary, community members will have a unique opportunity to engage directly with candidates seeking to become the state’s next Attorney General.

On June 11, 2026, the Denver Justice Project, Denver Task Force for Reimagining Policing & Public Safety, Mi Familia Vota, and Brother Jeff’s Cultural Center will host a public forum focused on public safety, civil rights, government accountability, and the role of the Attorney General in protecting Colorado communities.

The event will take place from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brother Jeff’s Cultural Center, located at 2836 Welton Street in Denver.

This community-centered conversation comes at a critical moment as residents across Colorado consider how state leaders can respond to challenges involving federal overreach, law enforcement accountability, civil rights protections, and threats to fundamental human rights. The forum will provide voters with an opportunity to hear directly from candidates about their priorities, values, and plans for the office.

Participating candidates include:

• David Seligman
• Michael Dougherty
• Hetal Doshi

ALL CANDIDATES WERE INVITED*

Attendees will have the opportunity to submit questions in advance and help shape the discussion around issues that matter most to Colorado communities. Organizers hope the event will create a space for meaningful dialogue between candidates and residents while increasing public understanding of the Attorney General’s responsibilities and influence.

The Attorney General plays a critical role in protecting consumers, defending civil rights, ensuring government accountability, and overseeing legal actions that impact communities across the state. Decisions made by this office can have lasting effects on public safety, criminal justice reform, immigration policy, voting rights, and access to justice.

Organizers are committed to creating a welcoming and accessible environment for all participants. Spanish interpretation will be available throughout the event to ensure broader community participation.

For those who are unable or do not feel comfortable attending in person, the forum will be livestreamed on Facebook by Brother Jeff Fard and Brother Jeff’s Cultural Center, allowing community members to participate and stay informed from wherever they are.

Community engagement is essential to a healthy democracy. This forum offers Denver residents an opportunity to learn about the candidates, ask important questions, and make informed decisions ahead of the June 30 primary election.

Whether you are a longtime advocate, a first-time voter, or simply interested in the future of public safety and civil rights in Colorado, your voice and participation matter.

We encourage all community members to RSVP, submit their questions, and join this important conversation about the future of justice, accountability, and public service in Colorado.

To recognize the value of community members’ time and expertise, participants received a $30 digital gift card, redeemable at retailers and services including King Soopers, Safeway, Amazon, Uber, and DoorDash.

The work does not end with a survey or a single community meeting. It continues through ongoing engagement, relationship building, and collective action. The youth who participated in this process have already helped shape a critical conversation about housing in Denver, and their contributions will continue to influence decisions that impact future generations.

This is what community-led change looks like: listening to those most affected, working together to develop solutions, and ensuring that community voices remain at the center of decision-making. Together, we are building stronger, safer communities and creating pathways toward housing stability for Denver’s young people.
