The Denver Justice Project and the Task Force to Reimagine Policing and Public Safety hosted a two night Public Safety Mayoral Candidate Forum at City Park on March 22 and 23rd. Our Co-Executive Director, Gianina Horton moderated the event alongside Pastor Hughes from the Task Force. Nine candidates, Sen. Chris Hansen, Rep. Leslie Herod, Lisa Calderon, Al Gardner, Andy Rougeot, Paul Fiorino, Jesse Paris, Ean Tafoya, and James Walsh participated in the forum where they were each asked to talk about their views on public safety in Denver, the Urban Camping Ban, their positions on community oversight of the police, as well as what they will do as Mayor to enact the 112 recommendations made by the Denver Task Force. The conversations were informative and we hope Denver voters find the information helpful when deciding who to vote for as the next Mayor of Denver.
